Because they are a bunch of socialists/Oxbridge toffs/far-right Fascists (optional choice) who have foisted 24 hour television on us to pay their over-inflated salaries?? Bring back the Potter's wheel.
Not to mention perverts and serial Walkers Crisps advertisers, by turns fiddling with the audience and then hardening their arteries.

Lineker uses social media to make political comments.

His views about the government's asylum policy at the time created new rules for BBC presenters of "flagship shows" making political comment. If anything, he's helped those sensitive souls who don't like news.

It's time the compulsory fee was gone. In this world of digital delivery it would take barely any effort to scramble it and have a pay to watch system for those who wish to watch and the rest of us can live happily without its output.
Why not scrap the subsidies for the other arts like the Royal Opera House and Royal Shakespeare Company as well? Why not quit subsidising public transport and tell passengers to either pay the full cost or get a car? Scrap tax altogether and just let people buy the public services they want. Want a new bypass? Pass the hat around then, and don't expect the taxpayers in the neighbouring towns to fund it. Get the CTC members to pay for cycle paths instead of the tax payer.

The licence fee is peanuts, it won't even cover the cost of a daily newspaper.

How do you stick the frustration? Catchup TV off the internet has got to be the most infuriating way to watch telly there is. The cue & review functions are as user unfriendly as it's possible to get, and every other time I try to use it I have to go to the laptop, boot it up, and use it to login in.

That's not my experience, I think it depends on the device how well it behaves. I personally prefer my PC (connected to my TV) but that's just me, so I set up Roku devices at home and at a relatives and they work well, the initial setup took less than an hour for several apps and they've been pretty good since.

The apps used are:

iPlayer
ITVX
My5
All4
Roku's own
UK Play
Kanopy
STV Player

We used to use Amazon Prime and Netflix but those have been cancelled.

That'd be amazing in the court I've imagined in my head.

"It says here Accy, that you refuse to pay your license fee because you don't like Gary Lineker's political views. Is that correct?"

"It is."

"And yet you watch Match of the Day?"

"I do."

"Which is presented, mainly, by Gary Lineker?

"It is."

"No further questions your honour."

If the magistrate has endured a heart bypass due to walkers crisps induced blocked arteries then Accy would be onto a winner.

However, if they were a potato farmer then Accy might be in a spot of bother.

Not my experience at all. Our aerial connection came apart in storms the year before last, and since we already used Roku for quite a lot, we just switched to using iPlayer over Roku to watch BBC (and the various other apps for other channels).

I think I've had to re-login about 3 times, over the last 2 years of this. The cue & review function isn't great, granted, as it doesn't show any preview, only the time you have reached. But the actual viewing experience has been seamless.
