One for you TV license fee fans...

I reckon the "stars" who get paid by BBC Studios are on a whole lot more than Lineker.

Yes, looks like there are a lot of 'below the radar' payments being made.

Pigs in a trough...

I'd happily pay everyone's license fee for a year to see Michael McIntyre fired into the sun.

I know a fella who writes for a whole bunch of comedians and it's a pretty interesting list, including McIntyre, Boyle, Millican, Carr, Howard and Brooker...

He said that, without exception, the most irritating to work with are the "nice" ones, Millican especially.

Just looked online at getting a TV licence for my new place in Dumfries.

The robbing gits charge double the standard monthly direct debit payment for the first 6 months before dropping it to ‘normal’. So, you pay for the first year in 6 months then sp the second half of the year paying towards the next year.

Bet they aren’t as keen to refund you if you have overpaid and n longer need a license.

Bumping this thread to save starting a new one..

Seems like the BBC are retaining Themis Recoveries, a debt collection agency, as well as Crapita to attempt to strongarm and scare people into getting a TV licence.

How on god's green green earth does a debt collection agency force people to buy something they neither want, nor need, this is getting out of hand

It will be for those who actually admitted needing a license.

A lot of people here certainly need a license but only ever, inadvertently, admit it.
The problem is, the more it is avoided, the more the payers will have to pay.

But there's plenty of advice that tells people what to do when a Crapita Goon knocks on the door, that goes along the lines of asking who they are, with a follow up of no thank you, and simply close the door, problem solved, no court case, no admission of guilt, by mistake or, otherwise.

My license ran out ages ago, but I had not even watched my telly since before then (if you were to see my house, you'd understand why.

I got a letter through the door recently, apparently they had been out to 'visit' me, but it's the wording that got me. It said

'We see from our records that you have not paid your licence. I came out to see you to find out why...'

You visited specially to find out why?? Awww, that's awfy nice of you (Cough)... Do you realise how self entitled and arrogant that sounds??

I want to know why...

'You have not paid AND I WANT TO KNOW WHY, WHERE'S MY MONEY!!??'

I then got a message on my phone yesterday saying that

'An investigation has begun'

Did ye' aye?? 🙄🤦‍♂️

It's always been like that. And why (I think) a lot of people oppose the TV tax, not just because it's quite a lot for what it is, but it's the way it's enforced. There's talk of a levy being introduced i.e. every taxpayer pays towards it even if you don't use it. I'm not opposed to this if it's a reasonable amount like ~£8/month. I look at it like the NHS - we pay to keep it there for everyone whether we use it or not. But it has to be value for money, and without going into NACA territory, it's walking a tight line
