I was once driving down the M62 at 4am in my Dad's car, when I came across a guy driving in the middle lane, despite there being no-one else on the road. I gave him a little flash and passed him on the right.

The next day my Dad came home yelling at me. "Dave from Work said you flashed him last night, he recognised the plates. I've never been so embarrassed...etc"

So I said, "Wouldn't you have flashed him in the same situation?" and he said "...err yeah, good point."

for what reason did you flash him for? you must be overspeeding.....^_^

I once "refused" to x-ray a patient!

On the way in for a late session I had been witness to an accident caused by a nutter overtaking on a blind bend, two cars collided and the drivers ended up in Casualty

The one at fault was most unimpressed that I and another cyclist described his driving to the Police in somewhat unflattering terms. He further endeared himself to the Police by claiming that we were "f***ing cyclists" and had no right to criticise him or give a statement about driving.

About an hour later guess who was in the waiting room... and continuing his ranting?

Rang A and E, told them that the patient was being abusive and therefore I did not feel it was safe for me to perform the examination.

He was discharged and had to come back the following morning!

do you know if he recognised you?
Not certain, he usually sees me in a suit, I was fully lycrad up with a buff-hat on and glasses. He avoided eye contact with me and blocked his face by pulling his sun visor around to block the drivers side window. (probably embarrassed)

Sounds like he didn't recognise you.

Even better, if he knows you cycle then he might have thought it could have been you. He'll be nervous.

Time to stitch him up on the next invoice.

Don't think he knows I cycle, might need to slip some pro3 race tyres into his disbursements on the next job I do for him.

TBH he is a really personable guy and an element of the shock was that someone who comes across like that face to face could drive in such a dangerous and selfish way.

Everyone has bad days. Just because someone's driving like a cock, doesn't mean they're aI ten bad person. Just a careless one. Some of the time. (Quite possibly, not all).
I tend to assume that every time you see a 'bad driver' it's just because you've noticed the minority - and for every genuinely awful driver, there's a lot more who - for whatever reason - are having a bad day.
(Not that that excuses driving dangerously, you understand, but rather sets it in context - an individual doing something stupid, for which they're embarrassed when they get caught out)

My question is probably a lttle off topic (but hopefully Dave from work was commuting so gives some justification), but why did it matter to you that Dave was in the middle lane of an otherwise empty motorway? Did he obstruct your overtake?
