The lady at work plays it, but she is as old as God, travels all over the country to play too, then comes in on a Monday and bores me shitless with her bowling antics....zzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Lovely. What a charmer. The lady at work plays it, but she is as old as God, travels all over the country to play too, then comes in on a Monday and bores me shitless with her bowling
Not a fan of the flat greens where they all play in 'lanes', it's a bit like exercise/spinning classes. Crown Green is more liberating. That and the other type.
Aye ******** Spellcheckers, you'd think they should know what you are thinking however you choose to spell it.Oh heck!!. And there's me supposedly checking if i've spelt it right everytime.
Tell em you're a CricketerIf i take something up i have to take it seriously. I've seen people playing bowls in what some would call posh areas(Lytham St Annes and Cornwall), wearing all white clothing. Would i look ok in a white cap, white v neck jumper and white flannels i wonder? Or would they think "What the fark is this idiot wearing"?
That's what the runner Brendan Foster once called it on A Question of Sport, not me. Do you, or have any of you played it? I've been invited to join in the fun up my local park. One of the older chaps near to me plays in two teams and according to another player down my local pub, the one who's invited me to play is 'the best bowler in Arrod'. Arrod being the local slang term for the town of Great Harwood where i live. The bloke who's invited me to play is very modest as he's never said this about himself at all, just that he likes to play quite a lot. There's a tournament on today at another venue here, which i'm told will attract hundreds of spectators. I might have a look up. According to reports you can buy pie and peas for 2 quid, and cans of beer are only one pound each.
Have you seen the price of a set of bowls though?!

Maz's brother was in North Wales on holiday when he came across a Petanque championship so he duly entered....................and won it, came home with the Welsh Petanque Champion Trophy which sat proudly on his mantelpiece (It was only a little cup)I love to play "petanque"or "boules" as you wrongly say over here, does count?
Precisely, "a type" of boules. Petanque has very strict rules, boules is more open.Pétanque is a type of boules ...
