I can't get into the detail, as the site seems to be overloaded, but I've just received these...
Here are some key features of our pricing strategy to help you plan your Games experience and be ready when applications open in March 2011:

1. A wide range of ticket prices including:

- 90% of tickets at or below £100
- Two-thirds of tickets at or below £50
- 2.5 million tickets at or below £20

2. Full-price tickets starting at £20 for every Olympic sport.

3. A special ‘pay your age’ offer. Young people who are aged 16 and under (at 27 July 2012) will pay their age for a ticket. Seniors aged 60 and over (at 27 July 2012) will pay £16. These ‘pay your age’ ticket prices and senior ticket prices will be available at one-third of the 640-plus sports events.

4. Opening Ceremony tickets start from £20.12.

The price of a ticket for a wheelchair space includes a companion seat located next to it.

Those, especially for the opening ceremony, seem to be pretty reasonable.

Most expensive tickets for football, diving and swimming finals are £450 and the most expensive ticket for the mens 100m final would set you back £725. If you are feeling particularly flush you can go to the opening ceremony for the parsimonious amount of £2012

not quite...(the search button reveals all).

I heard Lord Coe give a very spirited account of the prices this morning. He did give the impression that he'd like everybody who wants to go to be able to go, and I found myself being quite won over.

We tend to forget that the Olympic Park will have 250,000 visitors each and every day. And, yes, the tickets for the finals will be pricey, but they've got to make some of the money back somehow.

Excuse me for looking at the positives rather than trying to find another excuse to bash.

Well, yes, the most expensive tickets to something which hasn't happened in this country in over 60 years will be a bit pricey. But, the price that I quoted shows that the tickets to the opening ceremony start at just £20.12 and that seems pretty darned good.

Doesn't it?

How do you find out the prices ... I'm intending to go to the rowing!!! (and stay at my parents for cheap accommodation even if all the rest of the family do the same we can pitch tents in the garden).

I dont think my post was actually negative. I think I was merely pointing out the top end prices. I think the fact that the Olympics is in 'Britain' is a great thing. Its just a pity that it is a city which wins the games and not an entire region or country. For me to travel over to see any event even buying the cheapest tickets is still going to cost a lot. So unfortunately the 2012 Olympics will be exactly the same as every other Olympics before, to be enjoyed from the comfort of my sofa.

I was looking forward to the Olympics, and was going to go to a few events - once in a lifetime experience etc. But I can't be arsed to get ripped off to that extent. Guess I'll be watching on telly.

Thank you... I always put the wrong search terms into google ... I just ended up on a general olympics page when I tried and then when I searched for when it was on (to update my diary) - the first page I tried that time was the ticket price page you had just shown me, nothing to do with when... but I've found it further down. So I am definitely an inept googler!

Coo-er I'll qualify for the over 60 price, just. The wife seems to think she's solved the little matter of what to get me for a 60th birthday present!

I've registered to be a volunteer, so if I am lucky enough to be picked I'll see quite a bit of the games. Down side, it'll be a month off work !
