To those who took the time to reply with sensible answers, thank you. You know what the others can do, ends with off.

People aren't giving sensible answers because they don't think it is a sensible thing to do.

If you are bothered by the part of your shoes that are not normally visible being scratched, then you would have to repaint them after every few rides, because just about any readily available paint will scratch far more easily than the "raw" carbon soles.

It depends upon what finish the sole is. Some aren't lacquered, some are. Mine are lacquered and you can see the weave under a thick lacquer, and also there is printing under there. I've chips in the lacquer but you are going to get that.

All I could advise is lightly sanding the sole, and just using an automotive spray paint, but it will come off again the minute you stand on a stone !
