Pro-helmet or Anti-helmet arguments aside, I do wonder if that has passed any safety tests before getting the award. It's not mentioned in the article. I can't see how that design would crumple to absorb any shock. Maybe James Dyson knows better than me though.

I can see why it might be considered a good design though if you want to wear a helmet and it meets the standards of current helmets.
