Parcels delivered fro someone else - What is the norm??

Not a problem in my immediate cluster of streets.
We all know each other.
I've got phone numbers for quite a few neighbours, a quick What'sApp we arrange delivery/collection.
I rarely get my own parcels delivered elsewhere, because I have stated a "safe place" in the various apps.
During Covid I was the only one in my building home during the day, my place felt like a parcel depot

I got a card through the door from DPD the other day but they hadn't ticked any of the boxes or filled in any of the fields, so I had no idea where my parcel was - with a neighbour but which one (we're on the corner of a junction so there's five or six to choose from), back at the depot, in a safe place (but where?) or just anywhere.

Thankfully it was with a neighbour across the street and they dropped it in to us the next day wondering why we hadn't come round for it until I explained the situation. I did thank them for their efforts though, so hopefully they would do it again if required.

There's a chance they may not know who's got it. But I always take it to them as soon as they are in, and I expect the same. If it's left with you, you are essentially taking on the responsibility to deliver it safely and timely IMHO. We had one left with opposite neighbour once but we didn't get a note. Took him a week to eventually bring it round, that's rude

Not really. They are not working for the delivery company. Up to you to check your notifications.

My neighbour came knocking on the door with an Amazon parcel for me a while back, apparently it had been laid on the front lawn for several days.

Talk to all the neighbours on my road and have a good few of them on WhatsApp so will give them a cheery 'Oi, got a parcel for you when you're passing' message if something arrives. Even have neighbours message me if they know we're away and something gets left visibly on the doorstep or at the back gate. They take it in and keep it safe 👍

You get the community you build IMO.

Thirteen years ago we moved to our current house and found there was a very good neighbourly spirit; seems we all value that and work to maintain it.

There are people who are very social and others who are very private. And that's ok. I feel everyone would help in a crisis or for something minor, like taking in and dropping off a parcel.

Yep, been here 25yrs and did have one couple who were just plain F'ing venomous, to the point where everyone pretty much ostracized them. They left about 5 years ago and then the goodness has flowed back and harmony restored. Think we will be leaving in the next couple of years (kids have left home so might be time to move on) but jeez, feel it's going to be difficult to find somewhere like this again?

I think that's the point , if something misdelivered or left with a neighbour, and you are expected to ensure it is given to the original address, it could be construed as theft being in your procession, not apart from trespass , if you have no real reason to be there.
But that is extreme, as a postie ,I only had the right to walk to the delivery point by the most direct allowed route, i.e up the garden path,not across gardens or front lawns.
It will take a real 'jobsworth' to perdue such a case in point in law, but as it stands I don't and shouldn't accept parcels for someone else, unless there is a Verbal agreement.
But that comes from a former working life.
I am in the added situation where my upstairs neighbour is a serving Police officer, not that he would take umbrage, but he might.

We have good friends who left our row some 12-13 years ago. When we see them it's clear the wife deeply regrets that decision. Think long and hard if you already live in a good community.

I had a neighbour who's parcels had been dumped (this was Amazon).
I found them in some bushes a couple of days later. 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️

This was around Christmas time and I reckon it was a pissed off agency/seasonal worker.

Yes, we do that too here in my street.
Not everybody has an enclosed porch like me, so if parcels are left exposed to the elements/passers by, next door neighbour will move them to a safe area.
Most of us are out working, some of us are on longer shifts or away on jobs for a couple of days.
We also have a local FB page, sometimes I see people from a few streets further up asking who's got their package, usually they find it.
