The logo on the frame is immaterial and to be honest if people sneer over it then I would suggest they are not the sort of people I would want to ride with. What is far more important is how you ride. I ride with people on clunkers worth £100 and others on £8K dream machines, for sure people appreciate and fawn over the more more expensive bikes, but there is no criticism of the £100 bike or the rider. The majority of the riders could easily afford to spend a huge amount on a bike but are more than happy with a cheaper bike. Oh and the 3100 rider is always first to the top of the hill.

Anyway, back to Planet X. I have had a couple of their frames which have been great value for money, the customer service was pretty terrible though. However, I would still consider them in the future.

As the title suggests, I’m thinking of getting a Planet X pro carbon evo, has anyone got any experience of Planet X bikes and if so would you recommend them? It seems you get a lot of bike for the money, but I don’t want to be sneered at by the clique bunch if you get my drift. I know it shouldn’t bother me what others think, but I’m a sensitive soul!

It what you do on it that counts

I have a problem the other way around - got a pretty flashy kuota - but due to run of back injuries can't do the thing justice - ATGNI !!!

Planet X do some nice bikes nowadays - I doubt anyone with cycling experience would look down because it isn't a Pinarello / Bianchi - Once you get past carbon frame /105 groupset - any gains are very marginal IMO.

Having experienced the joys of internally routed cables restoring an old steel Peugeot I can say that if I wanted to change an internally routed cable I too would get my LBS to do it. Nothing wrong with that IMO. I get them to do the jobs I don't feel qualified for and also the ones I just don't like.
I always give the LBS the jobs that need specialist tools our I don’t feel capable of doing.Changing cables isa relatively easy job.None of my bikes have internal cables.Like you if I had Ito would take it to my LBS

Found in the Yorkshire hills ...
Planet X have a marked sale on their FB page today - worth a look.

I've recently bought a new Holdsworth roi de velo track bike from PlanetX - it's decent enough.

Lots like them, others will sneer. But then some will sneer at it not being the latest thing. Let them and ride whatever you like.

I have the Pro Carbon.I was asked by one snobby cyclist why I would buy a bike that didn’t have concealed cables.Asked him if he had had to replace a cable.Answer no I will get my L B S to do it.To change a cable, really Love my exposed cable Pro Carbon.
You need to ride guys like that off your wheel then at the finish line they come in whilst you’re sat beer in hand & tell them that their aero advantage wasn’t all that.

A lot seem to ride them around here
Look at Ribble too?

Sod them!!

I've got 3 Ribbles, & get the same attitude from some riders, who tend to be MAMiLs. or 'All The Gear - But No Idea'

Got a Px RT-80 and its served me well over the years. It's less used now because my riding has changed....I still prefer rival to 105.

Only thing to note is that the frame guarantee is 3 years on them. Some of the massive companies offer lifetime guarantees on the frame.

Goes to show Yorkshire cyclists know value for money.

It was a hard decision, Yorkshire frugality v spending the money in a Lancastrian shop👼
I remember going there, when they had the big showroom on Watery Lane (I think)

I used to go to the 'PX' shop, when it was at Worsborough, & purchased some good bargains there
Eg; a pair of very nice Vision Team 30 wheels for £140
I also remember going there (Worsborough) when it was the 'Cycle Promotions' storeroom/shop)
If any of you can recall those Sunday morning sales, all over the country, you're as old as me, or older......

I only visited the Rotherham (Magna) shop once, & was greeted like an old friend by one of the staff there..... one of the legends of English cycling
Wayne Randle!
A nice guy off the bike, but on it...................... he (still) grows horns
