But then you will get someone who actively campaigns to be president.
I would rather have a relucant royal who feels an overwhelming sence of duty, than a "has been" politician as a President.
And the president will be re-elected every 5 years, how many other countries would benefit from a 60 year reign from a stable figurehead, with no actual constitutional power.

And the president will be re-elected every 5 years, how many other countries would benefit from a 60 year reign from a stable figurehead, with no actual constitutional power.
We were lucky with Betty. It is not clear we will be so with Charles.

As for Phillp, I'm a staunch republican, I wouldn't like him socially (as far as tell) and I think he is probably racist and sexist, but I would not question his work ethic.
