I'd much rather be a blue science geek than one of the reds who just guards doors

Interestingly, the Next Generation's uniforms were:
Blue: Science/medical
Yellow: Engineering/security
Red: Command

I can also tell the exact series of Star Trek: TNG by the uniform, Riker's beard and Riker's girth. Now shoot me.

I think the classifications were:

yellow - command and administration
blue - science and medicine
red - engineering and security
Nonsense!
Red = engineering (Scotty), communications (Uhura) and expendable (anyone you don't recognise)...
But - surely everyone knew that!

I think the change was regarding "expendable" being included in the red category.

Mmm, Riker. My favourite. I have a life size cardboard cut out of him behind the sofa, scares the cr*p out of everyone that goes into the living room. Apart from me of course, I forget he's there. My best friend got him me as a joke one year and we took him to the pub with us.

Star Trek had completely lost the plot by the time it got to Voyager, and the fact that the series was based on a lost starship was delicious irony.

Deep Space 9 will eventually be revered as its pinnacle. When it finally matured.

Amusing, this fannish rivalry between different genres, with the SF theme as the only thing in common. I vote for TOS, emphatically. None of the others were, in a sense, "Star Trek".

I'll be giving the top a miss, the Shatner Belly effect isn't attractive....
