I can understand their concerns.
Each tourist thinks one rock won’t matter, but a 1000 tourists a day quickly adds up.
I have a rock in my garden from the banks of Loch Lomond. Makes me think I won’t do that again.
Leave only foot prints and take only memories is a good adage to live by.

I first saw this in NZ about 10 years ago. It seemed to have been done just to take a photo in front of it, with a nice backdrop. Can't see the harm in it. It's better than leaving litter or graffiti.
