The frost-prevention feature kicked in and saved you from an expensive repair bill, and your house from being flooded?

Signed - a person whose old boiler did not have frost prevention and froze solid when he went to visit his dying mum in hospital! Result - one dead boiler, and one flood-damaged property. (Fortunately, the house insurance paid for most of the repairs.)

Not wishing to make light of your mums death but, depending upon how you interpret your post the two highlighted sections could be a bit too close for comfort.
