It is not the lack of knowledge, I passed my UCDL* course but I will not have anything that tracks my location every minute and takes away money better spent elsewhere.

* European Computer Driving Licence.................I am IT literate but I object to being followed and tracked every minute, not because I'm doing anything 'wrong' just on principle. :cursing:

When I was unemployed for a while I was told I needed to do that

I pointed out that not only had I been working on computers - actually programming them - for 20 years
I was actually qualified to TEACH the damn course
but he was insistent that I needed to do it to give be a better chance of getting a job

I did go to a local college that ran it - just to see - and they offered to let me do the course but just register and then sit at the back on a computer doing job searches or whatever
and if they had a problems with teacher/trainers being sick that day then the normal teacher could take that course and i could teach the one I was taking and get paid for it

which was weird

I got a job a week or so after but it would have been quite weird if I had done that!

When people say "I could care less about..." Do they really mean they couldn't care less or that they really could care less? What happens if they really could care less then how would they say that without me thinking they really couldn't care less?

When a company drops a product, do they mean they are dropping it TO the world, or dropping it FROM the world? In my younger years, it meant the latter but now seems to mean the former. Did drop-shipping confuse everything?

I saw Donnie Darko, the movie, many years ago. That was bizarre but seems to pale in comparison to the bizarre world we live in today. BTW, how did George Orwell know how weird things would get?

Edit: fixed typos

How can homeless people take out smart phone contracts? They'll need one to access medical services once the new digital ID cards come in.

Mobile phones won’t be compulsory for id cards. The full spec is yet to be finalised but there’ll be an offline version if required.

I have to ask ,doe we actually need this intrusive tech?
Most domiciled in this sceptic isle all ready have id to prove they are eligible to work here, if you're born here you will have a National insurance number , if over the age of 17, it's a certain bet that you will have a driver's licence, with photographic proof of your i.d., very few will not have a mobile device that you cannot have without some form of identification, if still of school she it's common to have to wear a pass, if you are working In any major employer, you will have a tag around your neck ( so by default you are able to work)
Then there's this misnomer that you won't be required to carry your 'smartphone' with you, ....err just what is the point?
As I see it Establishment want to track your every move , an E ident on the phone will , to know or be able to track anyone who is of Interest to them.
If you haven't any of the above then it's proof you should not be here ,or seeking work , kick 'em out and be done !
I do not wish to be tracked wherever I go, just because I might have said something derogatory about someone.
The case has been proven by recent events of civil unrest ,rioting in the streets, people identified of CCTV, ,arrested & jailed.

Every job I've ever had, I've had to give a NI number, produce a passport and/or driving licence, bank details and all the rest. What problem is this Digital ID drivel actually going to solve?

Lots of employers don’t ask for those. Just NI which can easily be faked. Large numbers are employed illegally. The employers can easily pretend they checked when in reality they don’t care. I would hazard a guess your employment experiences have never been with such employers.

This will force employers to properly check and as such cut down on illegal employment.

I'm sure HMRC would soon spot NI contributions going to a fake NI account, so I'm not sure I believe that.
I can't see this making a scrap of difference to illegal employment. It's purely performative.

It isn't going to do that, , that's not what it's got primarily.
It's more to to do with covert watching of someone's movements, if your mobile is I.d. registered ,it will happily ping away your location, that's not to say it isn't doing that already

"I could care less" is the American version of "I couldn't care less", and it makes no sense, unlike ours, given that the literal meaning is the exact opposite of the intended one.

When a company drops a product, do they mean they are dropping it TO the world, or dropping it FROM the world? In my younger years, it meant the latter but now seems to mean the former. Did drop-shipping confuse every?

It can still mean either.

Dropping a new product means they are releasing it for sale. While dropping an existing product means they are removing it from their line up.

Which is rather silly.

But that’s not how it works. The employers in the gig economy do not set up paye. It’s how the workers get exploited re minimum wage, sick and holiday pay etc. They register on a platform and submit an ni number and that’s it. They start getting paid and as self employed it’s up to them to pay tax. So it gets easy for anyone to register with any old ni and start being paid.
And because it’s so easy it becomes a draw for illegal workers. It’s suits the companies as they can get away with paying very little with no worker protections and they have people queuing up to take advantage b

Except that's precisely why?
Sure , if that person of interest to establishment is a perceived threat, ....but why should I be monitored as well,
Believe it or not i'm not a threat to public security, but e - I.D me ,then I am,
As I said earlier we are already being monitored anyway.
There must be a reason why I have this high pitched beeping in my ears, and my eyes contra rotating in my head!
Just I think there's enough out there already
