I think the Iron age in the UK was around 3000 years ago, loads more of leaf compostYou know those archaeology programmes on the telly, where they go to a field, dig two metres down and find an Iron Age settlement. Why did they have to dig 2 metres down? Is that because 2000 years of leaf fall has decayed into soil and covered it all up? In that case, why isn't the top soil several miles deep? I reckon the Biblical estimate of the Earth only being about 6000 years old might be true after all.
