I have just listened back to a few intros for the Today programme and yes it is still "shal" but I still think it has moved towards sounding as like "chelle" as pos.
There is a trailer for a programme she's doing where it sounds very much like it.

Anyway, I hope it is not being done as that would be disappointing.
