Thanks to the time I spend on cycling fora I can't type the word cylinder without typing cyclinder. Got it right this time though.

In the absence of any link, your audience is limited to those CC members who live in the appropriate area, were listening to the relevant channel when the piece was broadcast, and were paying attention rather than doping something else (such as working).
It wouldn't at all surprise me that that was just you.

In the circumstances, "witty" comments are nearly inevitable.

Well there's a council where only one elected member will admit to knowing what a "bike box" is. None cycle, various reasons:
Too dangerous
Too hard, round here
It isn't safe

Told one minute that cyclists aren't being forced off the roads, in any way. Then the next item, as proposed by the non cycling cyclying champion is for more money to be spent on building off-road trails.

Never heard the piece on the radio. But the chances are that one of the people interviewed, councillour Barry Collins, will have been saying how good the area is for cycling. But refuses even to attempt to cycle in the area.

Council pulled out of re-opening the Queensbury Triangle due to cost.

So what are Radio Leeds and Calderdale propoposing?
Calderdale, three super cycleways. All built on land they don't own. One is going to be blocked in two years time, when the road above is widened.

One of the current ones takes in a few of the local "delights", shall we say. The sort of area you try your best to avoid.

Calderdale council propose an increase of 1 in 1000 to 1 in 100 commuters to use bikes i think those were those figures, though quoted an increase of 1000% in cycle usage. Now I know and many here will realise Calderdale is a tough place to commute on a bike, but as many of us know once fit enough no cycling commute is difficult and this is why they were negative in their outlook that cycling when you start is hard and off putting.
