I was mowed down by a red-light running truck on July 19. Two surgeries and 3 weeks in hospital. Now laid up in my living room.

Good news of sorts is that I survived at all and surgeons appear to have successfully re-attached my foot.

Thats horrible news man. Get well soon Rando!

No, sorry to break news as an aside in this thread, which I don't want to hijack. I was mowed down by a red-light running truck on July 19. Two surgeries and 3 weeks in hospital. Now laid up in my living room.

Rando - enjoy the rest in light of some total jerk !

Wish you a speedy recovery !!!!!!!!

I missed the earlier thread. Reading through this one and then coming to your account of what actually happened almost made me weep. As somebody else on here has said, a mixture of bad and good luck. It sounds like you have a good, support system around you and a very positive mental attitude. Good on yer. All the best with the recovery. It's obviously going to take time, don't rush back into anything too soon. Better to let the healing process finish completely.

Again, all the best.

Thanks B&B and everyone else.

To answer Kaipaith: I imagine the kid who drove over me is out there driving. Cops did say he was shook up and remorseful. No criminal charges though.

Hard to say at this point how much movement I'll get back in ankle joint. No doubt plenty of physio and pain to go through before that becomes clear.

That was a chilling account - it sent a shiver down my spine. I hope the best of BC's docs are going to you back fit again. I spent a month in Kelowna hospital and have a great deal of respect for your docs. Get well, that was a horrific accident.

All the best with the recovery. I had a bad one three years ago and it takes a while so be a patient patient ;)

Glad to know you're alive, but that sounds dreadful, Rando...

And the guy isn't getting charged after going through a red and almost killing you? That's ridiculous...

Skiing at Big White - had a nasty one. I was told on admission through the emergency ward that I would not walk properly again as my knee was smashed. A year later I was back running and skiing. I have since chosen to cycle as it is has less impact on the joint. The senior ortho surgeon took me on and worked wonders with pins.

I just wanted to wish you well Randochap. Also to add that I've always found it very useful to ignore any consultants or medical people who come bearing bad news about prognosis etc...and only listen to those who start sentences with words like " Well..it's a long shot...but I guess it's not impossible..."

Good luck.
