There are more field voles in the UK than people.

In the UK 40,000 a year seek medical attention due to golf ball injuries.

Ball injuries are rarely serious, but surely worth mitigating with simple and cheap PPE??

The origin of the distinct Australian accent is (obviously) not 100% clear but some language experts pin it down as being definitive from 1788.
They claim it is mainly a mix of english (predominently) cockney and the south west and Irish.
Sp now you know, or not.

I read some ago that there's more in common with Australian, US and South African accents such that is was likely that's how we all spoke when the migration first started and it is the modern English accent that deviated to what we have now.

Nobody knows and it's probably nonsense. Not sure I can imagine Wordsworth or Shakespeare with an American twang.

The uk has the most diverse accents in such a small area. You only have to travel 50 miles to get a completely different accent. Every major city has a distinct twang.

So it’s hardly surprising that the people who emigrated have a mishmash of sounds.

What the doc was suggesting though was that they all sound quite similar so their conclusion was that was the most common accent at the time
