I'm not sure this falls in to being a 'factoid', but I found it interesting, and didn't know until I just read it.

In 1968, Allen's father, Frank, was shot dead on his front lawn by a cab driver. Nobody knows why Frank was murdered or what his connection was to the killer. In 1975, Allen's sister, Karen, was at a Red Lobster parking lot when she witnessed an attempted robbery. Because the thieves were worried that she could identify them, they slit her throat. But the tragedy didn’t stop there. his two half-brothers were killed in a freak scuba accident five years later. That means that Allen lost four family members in three different incidents over 12 years. But it gets worse. His best friend, David Angell, was killed during 9/11. Then in 2009, his friend of 40 years, was murdered by his wife. He didn’t have many people to turn to when he was dealing with these tragedies since two of his wives were incredibly physically abusive.
But there was one thing that Allen could find happiness in – acting. Under the stage name, Kelsey Grammer, he became immortalised as the character, Dr. Frasier Crane, in Cheers and Frasier. The show, Frasier, won 37 Emmys; more than any other show in history.
This probably explains why he’s such an unlikeable person in real life.

In the right conditions and lighting, humans can see the light of a candle from 14 miles away.

If the human eye was a digital camera, it would have 576 megapixels.

Designed, and flown, by Wing Commander Ken Wallis in "You Only Live Twice". Little Nellie used machine guns, flamethrowers, aerial mines, rockets and even heat-seeking missiles in the scene.

However capturing the cinematic magic came at quite a cost, when the cameraman ended up losing his foot.

Wallis was piloting the aircraft during shooting, with cameraman John Jordan attached by harness.

However one of the SPECTRE helicopters near Little Nellie got so close, it sliced Jordan’s foot forcing him to have it amputated.

Two years later Jordan was killed after falling 4000ft from a bomber plane in the Pacific, while capturing footage for Catch 22.

He slipped, falling to his death, with lost footing blamed on his prosthetic foot.

Ubiquitous Menorcan confirmation word 'ido' (read eedo) comes from English phrase 'I do' since the times when the island belonged to the Britain.
Enhanced vocabulary is not the only thing the
PBritish left, as they also introduced gin to the islanders. Nowadays the most emblematic spirit, and indeed one of the cultural symbols of Menorca is gin Xoriguer.

According to research from security firm Symantec, religious websites carry three times more malware threats than pornography sites. They found that the average number of security threats on religious sites was around 115, compared to adult content sites which carried around 25. In fact, only 2.4 percent of adult sites were infected with malware.

In the movie Firefox(1982), General Vladimirov (Klaus Löwitsch) assures the First Secretary (Stefan Schnabel), "No pilot will risk the Moscow defenses, however invisible he might be."

Five years later on the 28th May 1987, Mathias Rust, a young German pilot flew his small plane five hundred miles into Soviet airspace, through the Moscow Defenses, and landed safely on Bolshoy Moskvoretsky Bridge, next to Red Square.

He was promptly arrested upon landing.

13 year old Marc Feld, met Cochran outside the Hackney Empire, a theater in the London borough of Hackney, where Cochran had just played a concert. Cochran allowed the boy to carry his guitar out to his limousine. Feld later renamed himself Dib Cochran and fronted a band called The Earwigs, although that was sort a joke name, an homage to the performer who had inspired him. Marc Feld was at this time already becoming famous under another stage name, Marc Bolan.

After the crash, whilst the guitar was impounded in Wiltshire, a young policeman used it to teach himself how to play.

That policeman’s name was David Harman, but he would soon change his name to Dave Dee and cofound a band called Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich.
