I haven't watched The Good, the Bad and the Ugly for a while. It is one of those rare films that I can watch over and over but still enjoy despite remembering virtually every scene, and in many cases the actual dialogue. I had the Director's Cut DVD but a friend borrowed it and I never got it back. He kept making excuses before admitting that he didn't have a clue where it was. It might have got "thrown away by mistake" ... Who throws DVDs away?! :cursing:

Anyway, it has now appeared on Netflix so I will watch it again some time this year.

Salty seadog

Space Cadet...(3rd Class...)
Fargo". Frances McDormand's break-through film. Quirky and brilliant. Darkly comedic drama. Great performance from a squirming William H Macy too.

Withnail and I

The Italian Job

All of those,

In Bruges for another black comedy with great acting.
Reservoir Dogs
Pulp fiction.
Apocalypse now.
Good the bad and the ugly.
Love honour and obey. All star British cast with a largely ad libbed script.
Twin Town. Fantastic

Lots of excellent suggestions.

Depends what you're after, he said stating the bleedin' obvious. But...

The Graduate - seriously cool, every frame could be a still, quintessential '60s
Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid - I can't imagine anyone not enjoying it. "Who are those guys?"
The Philadelphia Story - a personal favourite. Brilliant script, immaculately performed
To Have and Have Not - Bogart at his best, Bacall a stunning debut, at 18
Singing in the Rain - if you don't get happier, check for a pulse
Lawrence of Arabia - big screen is a must. Big, big screen.

Lots of those above, plus a couple of subtitled stuff

Le diner des cons
https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0119038/
Hilarious french comedy. There's a version with awful american english dubbing, don't watch that, watch the original french with subtitles.

The salesman
https://m.imdb.com/title/tt5186714/
Iranian movie, a sort of revenge story. Gritty and gripping, may challenge your perception about what life is like in Iran.
Don't know if there is a dubbed version, l watched it subtitled on prime.

Oh, and was forgetting District 13
https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0414852/
Parkour cum martial arts movie set on a distopian Paris. Good light entertainment, again, avoid the dubbed version.

@C R has jogged my memory mentioning a French comedy film. The Jacques Tati films are always worth a watch particularly Monsieur Hulot's Holiday. Trafic is good also.

Tail End Charlie

Well, write it down boy ......
Several of those already mentioned, in addition

Cool Hand Luke
The Treasure of the Sierra Madre - Bogart at his best
Defiance - although Daniel Craig`s accent is a bit dodgy
The Death of Stalin - don't know if it's on Netflix, but I saw at the cinema and it's superb.

Re: Good the Bad and the ugly. Not seen the spag western trilogy since they were shown as a triple bill at the Esher ABC in late 70’s but the other day I bought them in Sainsbury’s cheap. I shall be watching them next week when the Fragrant MrsP is in Seattle. I hope they’re as good as I remember.
