Hi, magnatom. On the other hand, on this gorgeous, sunny afternoon, I decided to go round a roundabout I normally walk around - thought I'd scoped it out, but didn't spot a kind of "hidden" incline in the 50 yards before it - or that that entry to the roundabout, the whole camber of the road slopes off to the left AND uphill a bit - subtle, but enough to cause me to stop a good few feet further firward than I intended...and forget to change down gears. And something on at Ibrox (to judge by the songs) had just come out while I was in the shops. Result - I'm on a slight left slope and about to start off uphill, and still kinda scared of even wee quiet roundabouts anyway, and there's an unaccountable stream of traffic from the right, when I know I'm going to get off to a REALLY slow start (the messages on board as well) and have to wait ages (feartie!) for a really big gap in the flow.
So - thanks to the lovely couple who sat patiently behind me for ages (despite the queue forming behind them), stayed well back while I wobbled off to an atrocious start, and gave a friendly smile as they overtook me afterwards. It made the difference between wanting to avoid that roundabout in future and being confident I can do better next time.
Some drivers (and passengers) are worth their weight in gold.
