nice one magnatom thats pretty cool that gadget you have there but why do you ride so far out?
looking at your other videos why dont you like that cycle path it looks perfectly fine to me except that man taking a leak in it which is abit odd maybe he wanted you to pull over;)
you do seem to get alot of abuse on these videos though which is abit bad are you doing something wrong? your scream is abit girly aswell!
but im sure these video camera things are good for reporting accidents etc but isnt it abit annoying having that thing strapped to your helmet all the time, must be a large camera the video quality is quite good on it aswell
on the speed bump one are you sure you overtook him 30 seconds later, doesnt look like theres anything up ahead to slow him down but you do seem to be going along at good pace you should relax more and enjoy those fine roads

Hi, magnatom. On the other hand, on this gorgeous, sunny afternoon, I decided to go round a roundabout I normally walk around - thought I'd scoped it out, but didn't spot a kind of "hidden" incline in the 50 yards before it - or that that entry to the roundabout, the whole camber of the road slopes off to the left AND uphill a bit - subtle, but enough to cause me to stop a good few feet further firward than I intended...and forget to change down gears. And something on at Ibrox (to judge by the songs) had just come out while I was in the shops. Result - I'm on a slight left slope and about to start off uphill, and still kinda scared of even wee quiet roundabouts anyway, and there's an unaccountable stream of traffic from the right, when I know I'm going to get off to a REALLY slow start (the messages on board as well) and have to wait ages (feartie!) for a really big gap in the flow.

So - thanks to the lovely couple who sat patiently behind me for ages (despite the queue forming behind them), stayed well back while I wobbled off to an atrocious start, and gave a friendly smile as they overtook me afterwards. It made the difference between wanting to avoid that roundabout in future and being confident I can do better next time.

Some drivers (and passengers) are worth their weight in gold.

Cool, I've been missing blazed and now we've got a substitute. He even has a similar grammatical style.

"I dont do this riding because when driving i know how annoying it is being stuck behind a cyclist in the middle of the lane. But i was watching a few of a members youtube videos who always seems to be in the middle of the lane having arguments with drivers made me wonder whether riding in the middle is the norm?"

Aye, some roundabouts can be a bit nerve wracking at first. But once you've worked out a strategy for each roundabout it soon gets easier.

I tend to find the faster I take a roundabout (within reason) the easier it is to negotiate. I'm sure it is because you keep up with the flow better. Of course, that also means you need to have the speed in the first place!

My speed shopping today hit a maximum magnificent 24kph on the flat.
But hey, it's 1kph better than last time.

So long as you keep cycling it'll pick up. Anyway, no matter how fast/slow you are, there is always someone faster/slower than you.

84%? Not on my commute.

What are the statistics on death/injuries caused by red-light jumping by motorists?
I've been googling about a bit, and from the bits and pieces I can find, the deaths-caused -by-red-light-jumping-drivers seemed to be of the order of roughly a hundred-plus people per year. Does anyone have a proper set of figures?

I don't think that worries me too much WeeE,but I saw some woman texting today while she was driving and I must admit that worries me a lot.

These people think they are so effin good at driving that the think they can text and drive.

Good question. Origamist? I know TfL looked at buses RLJing (3 seconds after red?) and found that 1 in 5 jumped.

Anecdotally (yes I know it is a poor measure!) I would expect that the type of red light jumping would be different. I would suspect that cyclists who jump would tend to go when the red has been red longer, i.e. creep across. Drivers, I would suspect would tend to jump shortly (or not so shortly) after the red light has turned.
