Remember when the Oscars were about films ?

Read this morning that the oscars were watched by the smallest ever audience - no surprise really -

1.) The awards a no longer a reasonable indicator of a good film - its more about a certain type of film - plenty of humorous or decent films never hit the oscar radar

2.) In recent years its seems necessary to turn the oscars into some political (and very boring ) point....

They never were. It well known that the best film of the year is often not the winner, but even some of the greatest movies never even got nominated

All of these meedja awards are luvvie-fests for people who get very well rewarded for their job. A pox on them all. Why anybody cares is beyond me.
On the politics, I think that's the only thing that's positive.
