Road Rash......oh how I hurt

Two nights ago(sunday) I get out of work and it was around 60 degrees out,(warm from what we have had) and I decide to take out the carbon bike I had built this winter so I could do a little more testing on it. I figured I would just stay close to home and just run through everything a few times. Things seemed to be working pretty good and I was moving along at about 20-25 mph, just as I lean into a corner I find loose gravel. The bike came out from under me so fast I felt like I was on ice. Next thing I know my face is on the pavement, I think I hit every part of my body you could. Both knees look like a meat grinder were taken to them, my right shoulder and hip feel like someone clubbed me. My face is pretty rough also (so much for that modeling job)
I think the bike will be ok, I need to check it out closer once I can move around better. The road is not a pretty lady right now, I kissed her so nice and she just bit me back

road rash is like sunburn it stings and when you go for a bath or shower it stings like a b******** but it will heal the main thing is make sure the bikes ok lol

Funny, because the bike was my first worry. Not that my face was bleeding and that I had just slammed my face into the ground

Gws @kloeshuman , I got a tiny bit of road rash from a clipless moment last week and it don't half sting..

It's always the the way. Sod my face, how's the bike.

I was clipped in too, but I really don't think it would have mattered much if I wasn't running clip less . When I was a kid I would've been back on the bike already, when we get older it seems to take a lot longer to heal.

Just FWIW, I dropped into a first aid centre the next dat with road rash, and the nurse gave me (what turned out to be) a prescription for some fairly serious antibiotics. "Does it look infected?"; "Roads are dirty"

IE it was SOP to give antibiotics to all road rash victims. Keep it clean, and watch out for any redness or swelling (beyond what you have now)

Thanks everyone, and yes....I should have known, this time of year even more because of whats left behind from the snow and plow trucks. But it was one of those once you see it, its too late

Here's my last road rash leg..last year some time, My hip was worse.

Right knee looks like yours, left is a little worse. But my right hip and right shoulder is what hurts the most. I think they are just bruised bad

Maybe you should err on the side of caution and have it looked at.
