I used to love a Chopper Squad but saw it a few months ago on some cable channel and it was seriously pants.
I still like Lovejoy though. It used to be on a Sunday morning a year or so ago. Great to watch.

No one said the Carry on films?

Guess its down to me.
I love most of the Carry On films but last time I mentioned then I was accused of having no taste. Having read what some people like in this thread some people shouldn't be so judgemental.

Where was that?

I've never seen Chopper Squad repeated.

I've only managed to find a handful of old VHS rips... poor video quality plus a seriously 'pants' show ensured their deletion after one viewing.
As a dyslexic kid, the chopper used to baffle me... why did it have Surf Rescue on the side? As far as i was concerned, Surf was washing powder.

My whole life = a Carry On film.... ooer, matron etc

I definitely don't want to relive my youth. IT was horrible. The good old days are right now and getting better all the time.

I know what you mean. Mark sense cards or worse still, punch cards, and if you dropped a deck of cards it could take days to get them back in the right order. And your program that used to run fine stops working suddenly because a pencil mark got smudged. And the only way of interacting was via a teletyprewriter wasting reams of paper.

That's ignoring the whole world of ascii porn (link NSFW).

Information Technology is much better today with apps and the web and a computer in your pocket more powerful than NASA had, in the bad old days.

More recently.. as in about 15 years ago, I was hooked on Farscape. I thought it was one of the riveting and original sci-fi series we'd had for decades. Bought the DVD box set about 5 years ago so i could relive the adventure... utter sh!te.

First series of Blackadder, not as funny as i remembered it.

The first Series of Blackadder is widely regarded by the cast and Crew of Blackadder to be "quite pathetic". They then brought Ben Elton in as a co writer and stopped a most of the outside scenes. This is what helped turn it around.

Season One was ok, bit '2001', bit Thunderbirds witha cool theme tune. I think some of the minature efects were fab at the time and look surprisingly good today compared to CGI, and done on a TV budget. Season two was just sh**e though, with added insult of a disco-sh theme tune:sad:.

Remember how they would always lose at least one Eagle an episode, but they seemed to have an infinite supply? Space 1999 should have been about resource management, and making things last, but it's more fun to blow things up. Kaboom! Crash! Kablooie!

(I think about 5 are destroyed in the opening sequence above)

(also remembering my surprise when seeing Crimes and Misdemeanours. What, Martin Landau can act???

I think period radio comedy stands the test of time better. Round the Horne, Hancock etc?

Totally. I heard Round the Horn for the first time in 1990s, and it really made me laugh, even the slight racism and strong sexism didn't stop it being funny.
