Was UFO a spin off from space 1999 ?

Shaun
No, it was actually the other way around. UF0 was made in 1969 and when Gerry Anderson was trying to sell it to the US in the early 70's, he wanted to revamp it with a new series, a 'UFO 2' and so some pre-production work was commissioned. Long story short is that UFO series 2 transformed into Space 1999. Interestingly over the years, props and parts of sets from UFO have appeared in shows like Dr Who, Blake's 7, The Tomorrow People etc.

Taxi and Hill Street Blues are still two of the finest shows I have ever seen. Both still stand up in their own right and there is no sit com or cop show I would rather watch that is currently on TV.

Hill Street Blues as in Pizza Man Frank and Veronica Hamel

Let's be careful out there.

that closing remark became the catch phrase at our weekly team meeting. I'm not sure all the younger team members even remembered the show. I should add we were an IT team in a telecomms company so we were unlikely ti be injured in the line of duty - but needed to avoid cock-ups so still pertinent advice

I use it when I finish my team meetings. It's dangerous work employee benefit consulting.

Somehow missed this thread, apologies if it's been mentioned, but I tried an episode of Yes Minister recently - must-watch telly in its heyday, but god it was clunky. Laborious, predictable, just....not funny.
