Oh dear.
I don't even know the fella, but I feel sorry for him.
To be that desperate for companionship must be awful.
And we all know what will happen.
1500 nicker must go a long long way in the Russian Federation
I've a nasty feeling £1500 is just testing the waters.

My cousin's female friend has disappeared from his FB list. He hasn't said anything, but I'm guessing he realised it was a scam but is too embarrassed to say anything to me after I warned him off. I don't know if he parted with any money.

I think it's time to introduce your friend to an evening of entertainment, the game is 'scambating'

There is a truly wonderful website dedicated to this worthy cause, and if anyone else fancies a lost evening then read some of the wonderful success stories

Does somebody want to transfer millions of dollars into your account?
Does someone want to pay you to cash cheques and send them the money?
Met a new friend/penpal on a friendship/dating site who's asking you for money?
Has a dying person contacted you wanting your help to give his money to charity?
Have you sold an item and are asked to accept a payment larger than the item amount?

Its a scam !

Done that. He popped he's clogs before he could transfer the money over though. Sad really.
E-mail account set up for it.
Just thought I'd update this thread almost a year on. It ended very badly with my friend being 20k out of pocket and spending two months in hospital with stress related physical and mental problems as he began to realise the truth. Over the year he fell out with family and friends who tried to warn him, aged visibly, and I am not sure he will ever fully recover, even though people are rallying around him.

These scammers are evil b*stards, and it seems there is no way to bring them to justice.
That is really crap
Sorry your friend got so badly hurt.

£20k! That is very sad. But they will keep trying because it is worth it if 1 in 100 bites.
I hope I am street wise at that age. What tricks will they be pulling by then?

Sorry to hear this. I think we all knew something like this was inevitable really. Such a shame he didn't wise up after the initial £1500 fishing expedition the scammers pulled.
