Hiya,

So my lovely new bike is coming today and I was wondering what I should do with the old frame - will they accept it at the local dump?

(It's been deemed unsafe by LBS, btw)

Don't have room but want to dispose of it responsibly so no one endangers themselves by thinking "oooh, someone's thrown away a perfectly good bike!!!"

Chop it in half and take it to the dump. Take it intact and it will find its way back into the food chain.

My local recycling centre has areas for wood, metal, old computers, batteries etc. Check your council website. There are always useful men there in hi viz, I bet one might (drive a bull dozer over it/hit it with a hammer/assure you it won't be reused) if you ask nicely.

(when I was throwing away the broken bits of an old sofa, someone doing the same called it "reverse Ikea" )

Google "art from bicycle frames". Lots of options.
