Comfy armchair to one person & a plank to the next
Is that bag the size it is to accommodate one tube patch and a bit of chalk?
It contains a folding bike in case the first one "breaks down"

Seven things ranging from legally required under some circumstances (lights),
And yet, not lights that satisfy the law.

You could equally add Shoes! Banana holder! Spoke reflectors! Bearings!
Remember: the banana holders that hang from the top tube are NOT called "banana hammocks"

I take back my earlier comment about tyre levers, as I see that the multi_tool holds detachable versions. I don't know what you would do with them, without a spare tube or repair kit though. I wonder how they would fare getting my Kevlar beaded tyres off my MA40s?
Fine but you may chew your rims up. I agree I'd put some sort of repair kit on the essentials list.

I don't think they would chew up the rims as they appear to be made of plastic
From the Wiggle page:

Hexus features side panel, snap-out tyre levers

Tyre Levers: Two Engineering Grade Plastic Levers

From a review:
"Excellent multi tool which is light to carry and perfect for quick repairs on the road, or even back home, the only complaint is the one of the tyre levers snapped whilst changing a puncture therefore they are a little flimsy. The rest of the multi tool I've had no problems with."

Dogtrousers

Kilometre nibbler
  1. puncture kit
  2. small selection of tools (allen keys and tyre levers)
  3. saddle bag (or similar to keep the above in)
  4. pump
  5. bottle cage
  6. bottle
  7. lights

Technically, those are important things, but they're a bit worthy.

I'd go for
1. One of those brass bells that when you ting it resonates for ages.
2. Some particularly ludicrous lighting - maybe those things that paint patterns on your wheels as they go round.
3. Internet enabled valve caps.
4. A display that projects a motivational message on the road in front of you. Comes free with the entire collected quote of Jens Voigt.
5. Novelty cable end-caps
6. Something in the way of mobile phone apps. Probably iphone-only. Maybe one that reminds you to comb your beard when approaching fashion sensitive espresso stops.
7. A stem cap that flashes red when you approach Strava segments.

There you go. Must-have accessories.

Interesting list. Slight variation for me:

1. Expensive bike
2. Expensive lights
3. iPhone cradle
4. Dirty-northerner radar
5. Awesome cycling cap
6. Support vehicle
7. Wedding ring: sometime I'm just too sexy and the number of propositions I get is just embarrassing - I'm married, get over it.
