Shimano 105 or Ultegra on a CX?

Would be interested to know what everyones thoughts are on these two groupsets, and which you would go for? Just looking at this bike - Ribble CR3 CX

Why are the forks on backwards or is it a halfrauds spec bike.

If you want the bling, can afford it and the cost of replacement components, then Ultegra.
Otherwise, 105.

I can't see the point of speccing high-end group sets on fairly mundane bikes myself.

105 is excellent machinery, a top draw performer. The only advantage for Ulty is a slight weight reduction, but as its going on a CX bike that's not really a consideration.

So 105 for me, and a chip supper with the change.

Normally I'd say 105 straight off. However things get a bike more interesting when using the new Hydro groupsets.
The 105 and Ultegra hydro hoods are massively different in size and feel. The 105 are more bulbous and "longer" whilst the Ultegra look and feel more like traditional hoods.

Personally - having big hands, I find the 105 hoods very comfy and easy to use, but Mrs Kes couldn't live with them at all. I'd strongly suggest you try out the two as you may hate one or the other (same goes for SRAM levers too).
