Silent Witness was good back when Amanda Burton played the main character but went downhill soon after she left.

I auditioned for the last series. Didn't get it, but when I saw the ep I was quite glad. It was for the role of the woman who gets bashed with an oar and her finger cut off. How my poor old mother would have stood seeing that I don't know.

And yes, totally unrealistic. I knew a chap who used to write for The Bill and they had to have all sorts of training and guidelines to keep the stories within the realms of fairly realistic police procedure. The Silent Twitness lot would get all the convictions overturned because the defence lawyers would have a field day with their rule-breaking!
