I'm old, I smoke and I drink
Yet I'm still not as quick as you'd think...

Smoked gange when I was in my late teens/early twenties. I thought that it was messing with mind as I am quite a deep thinker so I gave it up, never missed it. Smoked fags since I was 14 stopped when I was 28 for over 5 years then started again. Over the last 7 years I have just stopped and started. But recently decided that I'd had enough. This was mainly due to taking up cycling to help after a major knee op and feeling like my lungs were going to explode. It has been 6 months now and I do not think I will ever start again. The only time that I miss them is when the weather is lovely and I am sitting out in a beer garden, but the feeling soon goes away.

I have stopped smoking that many times now that each time I have done it the easier it gets. It is no longer the massive deal that it used to be, still I do not want to start again.

I quit in August last year. Gratefully supported by folk on here.

The seldom occasion I'm out in the pub or at a party I get the urge to smoke, and have sometimes done so. Just the one - maybe put it out half way through.

Had my last ciggie on 21 Sept 2001. I'm planning a 10 year celebration with a break at a spa hotel.

With a Cigar?
Sorry.

I've got emphysema  pass the oxygen bottle please

Yes, and my clothes STINK!!
Except for my late Grandpa, nobody in our family smokes, and the Smoking Ban has done wonders for when we are out, so when I do smell cigarette smoke, by God do I really notice it! It is like suddenly being reminded of something awful you had been trying to forget about for years.

Recently packed in - basically down to the cost which is something like £2500 pa for 20 a day.

I only miss them after a ride and sex.

Started when I was 13, up to 20 a day by the time I left school. Finally quit when I was in my late 20s. Did it slowly, cut down from 20 to 10 to 5, then 3 then 1 and then, The Last Cigarette. I waited til I was home alone and went outside to enjoy it. Stubbed it out half way through as I felt really sick.

I sometimes miss the act of smoking, but the not cigarette itself.

And just the smell of it on other people makes me both heave and cringe with embarrassment at having put my friends through that for so many years xx(

Smoked briefly in my twenties, but didn't really like it, so stopped. Occasionally get the desire to have another one - usually if i've had a drink. Somehow the two go together...... Last ciggie was in 2007 (i think). Was a one off at a party.

Would like to try waccy...just the once...

I haven't smoked since February 2010 when I realised that I wasn't enjoying them as much as I used to and that it had become more of a routine. Instead of making a conscious decision to stop, when I would immediately want a cigarette, I've told myself that I'll only smoke if I actually want one.

Was on up to 40 a day for 20 years – gave up 11 years ago after I became diabetic. Still thought of myself as a smoker who wasn't smoking for 5 or 6 years.

Liked smoking but realised fags were costing as much as the mortgage.

Nowadays it's a pain being a smoker – Mrs Dave is super fit, but has an ashtray on her bike.

I quite smoking 40 a day back in Nov 2006. Had patches for a week and gum / sweets for around two weeks. Don't miss it one bit. I have smoked the equivalent of two joints in my life and as I was drinking on both occasions had no enjoyment from it.
