There's people screaming fix, but surely with the way that betting patterns are monitored it would've been too blatant?

That was no fix. Allen would give his every penny and the shirt off his back to win the world championship. Unless someone has played in a competitive match, no matter how near the bottom of the food chain the particular competition is, it is impossible to understand how hard it is to stop your arm and legs trembling and your brain from scrambling on a vital shot.

No chance was that a fix. As I said above, he cued way too far from the ball. When you leave that much distance for the cue to travel, with so much pressure, if you are just a fraction off when delivering the cue you will miss.

Shows why he has failed in the past, it being the same for many a challenger.
Shame as he had learned to play his all round strength in a more balanced way this year.

Ropey start to the final.

I enjoy a tactical exchange but the last half an hour of Murphy failing to get a snooker hasn't exactly been riveting stuff.

What a puzzling tournament. Near impossible to call, beginning to end.
What I noticed about Murphy, right from his very first match is that like Higgins and Allen, is that he is more balanced in his play.
I have always wondered how much his commentary work distracted him from his prime job, playing snooker.

Well at least the final session tonight has them as close as possible, amazing how this afternoon's session unfolded with Wu out of sorts and then Murphy out of sorts, hopefully they will both be firing on all cylinders tonight.

I've not watched snooker properly for several years now, just lack of time really.
I've watched the bulk of this final (Not the whole tournament), and it looks like it will go right down to the wire - both players having their strengths and weaknesses show in equal measure.

As I think I mentioned before, I've been a long time fan of Murphy, and I would love him to win for a 2nd time, but Yize is playing in a not dissimilar way to that which Murphy played in 2005 - if my memory serves.
I'm hoping it gets to 17-17, feels like a match that deserves a final frame decider.
Murphy playing out of his skin to get to 16 all, but that red he just missed was a shock.

Some classy play this evening….& surprising misses to let the other player in.
Wuuuuuu is a top player. Murphy played exceptionally well against the lad, & gave a decent speech at the end.
Excellent final!
