Just seen your pictures Echo, you like dogs and bikes so will fit in very nicely with us eccentric islanders.

You will be having curry sauce on your chips and be scoffing kebabs before you know it.

Or if your from Northern England you may prefer gravy.

I had to Google that, but your not wrong. Chips n gravy does indeed look like poutine.

  • Poutine is a common Canadian dish, originally from Quebec, made with french fries, topped with brown gravy and cheese curds. Sometimes additional ingredients are added. Wikipedia
It needs to be good to taste better than chips n curry sauce. The French obviously stole the idea from us and gave it to the red wine swigging Canadian fraternity.

We also have cheesy chips available in all good greasy spoons. (Cafes)
I think i am obsessing about chips!
I'm on a diet :sad::sad:
Still i can have my cous cous for lunch, thanks Ainsley. :hungry:

Last time I went to the states (Florida a couple of years ago), we went on a mission to try as many of the fast food outlets we could. Wendys=yuk, McDonalds=a very different experience to what we have in the UK, The Waffle House...Yum  , SteakNShake = I like this chain, Ponderosa = jeez, the steaks were cooked to perfection, but possibly responsible for 50% of obesity in the states ?

Did you try In'n'Out or Five Guys? I understand they're the best burgers in the US.

In fact I did (5 guys). they have a stall in the foodcourt at the Florida Mall (about 5 miles from International drive where we were staying)

The down side is that you miss so much if you don't have a car there as everything is so spread out and the public transport is a bit hit and miss.

Tyne and Wear is the name of a county (i.e. a government administrative area) - I think you have counties within states?

The Wear is another river. So that particular county is named after two of the rivers that flow through it.

My address, for example, ends in Wotton-under-Edge [the name of the nearest town], South Gloucestershire [the county]
(then the post code, which you call a zip code, I think)

Hit or miss? Ha it's non existent. Chicago, NY and Seattle are the only cities with decent transportation.

Curry on fries? Hmmmmmm that sounds really good. I was under the impression you guys put vinegar on your "chips" (yuck).
I prefer Samosas over Kebabs. I hear there are some great samosa stands in some district in London I can't remember the name of.

I always prefered Steak n Shake over 5 Guys
fast food makes me sick just thinking about it McDonalds is the worst next to Burger King and Wendys, Jack in the Box. Don't think I've ever been to an In n Out though.

And sorry about having to post multiple times, it's really hard scrolling through the posts on my phone and my memory isn't as good as it used to be!

You obviously didn't have a banana milk shake at Wendys. After a long hot cycle, they are hard to beat!

To add to your list: Taco Bells - not bad but small portions by American standards. Dennys (not sure if that counts as fast food) do fantastic breakfasts. Agreed re the difference between McD's UK and USA.. As per usual with the UK, we take a good American idea and make a complete hash of it.
