I have been wanting to get out on the bike now for the past week and today was the only time I had chance to get out and enjoy a nice ride.

So set the alarm for 8 get up and take a look at the bike sat on the turbo in my bed room all excited about getting out and trying my new gear out. I remembered that I needed to re fit the rear mudguard as I removed that the other Week whilst training as it makes a rather annoying noise. So thats all fitted tires topped up with air, lights checked, tool kit popped into the top tube pack along with a fully charged phone, tidy up some of the cable ties holding the cheapo cycle comp in place and all ready to set off.

Take a look outside and yeah its damp but clear. Jump in the shower get out put my kit on grab a coffee and just as I was about to get the bike out the heavens have opened.

Oh well back on the turbo for another day of looking at the wall!!!

I am going to stop planning for rides from now on and just hope that when I do get time the weather holds up.

Is it just me or does this happen to others?

If I want to go out on the bike rain seldom stops play, having raced on and off for over 40 years you start to realise you can enjoy riding a bike in any weather.

I am still learning the skills of riding and the roads around where I live are currently looking more like a ploughed field than tarmac. Even in the car I have had a number of scares where the car just starts sliding on the mud so god knows what it would be like on the bike.

Once I am on the open roads I am my confidence will build.

Rain does stop me a little, if there's no rain before I set off I'm OK but I rarely start in persistent rain.
Same here I think I would of been fine getting out there first thing but looking at it now and the way the trees are swaying I mat leave it for a bit and see if it clears up.

Bike prepared the night before, coffee and porridge then out the door, shower when finished..First part of your ride would have been dry - sort of..
Yeah I am kicking myself as I even looked over the bike last night. Preperation has never been my best point but lesson learnt.

Get up earlier
Funny enough I don't mind getting caught in the rain while I m out ( like this morning ) but I hate setting out into the rain  . At this time of year you need a flexible schedule to find the weather windows . Keep ticking over on the turbo and get out when you can . The only way to gain road confidence is to ride on them as you know.
