So how are we all finding motorcycles in bus lanes

Saw one or two but no problem.More of a shock to see more traffic on the road really.

I haven't ridden in London recently, here in Medway they are still not allowed so the bus lanes belong to me, we had snow today, it was still virgin when I got to the workshop, I spent ten minutes doing doughnuts in the carpark.

Short piece on the Telegraph's website:
the Motor Cycle Industry Assocation has issued a code for bus-lane users on bikes. In brief, it suggests:

1) take extra care around vulnerable road users in bus lanes

2) be aware of pedestrians walking through traffic queues and at bus stops

3) give cyclists a wide berth

4) never undertake cyclists - [may I add, scooterists take note, seeing as this is by and large your favourite manoeuvre]

5) always assume cyclists cannot see or hear you behind them

6) do not use excessive speed in bus lanes

7) do not overtake each other

8) watch out for other vehicles at junctions

9) take extra care when riding alongside congested pavements

10) we are ambassadors for motorcycling; riding in a bus lane is a privilege that needs to be respected

Nice to know they're being considerate. Perhaps cyclists should be issued with the same guidance...

Plenty of people still away (including the schools) and poor weather meant there were few two wheelers (motorised or otherwise) on my ride to work today. Give it a week (and a few degrees) or two and we can see how things work then.

The LCC were out at Hyde Park Corner this morning encouraging cyclists to report any incidents they experience. Our group will probably do something similar in a week or two when we follow up our pre-ptw cycle counts.

Well glad it went well. They are thinking of letting motorcyclists in all bus lanes in Sheffield whereas at the moment there is a bizarre mix of non-standardised bus lanes.

And Motorcycle News will probably be doing their bit to get back at LCC. It great to see how you can get grown ups to act like tittle tattle kids.

And right in the middle of a credit crunch:laugh:

In shared pedestrian/cycle lanes pedestrians complain about cyclists - out in the country ramblers complain about cyclists (motorised or not). Give any group of folk usage of anything and they form a pressure group to gain sole usage.

Give me the Judean Peoples Front anyday or is that .....................;)

Absolutely. Hell's grannies conflict with dog walkers, push chairs conflict with people with walking sticks. You name it.
