I'm expecting a box from Wiggle any moment. It's for commuting duties. My fixed experience so far is limited to local trips on the eBay special that I use as my hack bike. However, I did once ride it round Blackheath village with the right leg of my jeans rolled up, which i think makes me fully qualified and a paid up member of the club.....

I just told SWMBO obeyed how much Lelly cost. She doesn't even notice the other bikes anymore!
How much did Lelly cost? Just so I can lob in a "Well I've got a mate who has just spent £nnnn on his new bike so it could be much worse my lover"

"Only" £2,000 so I'm sure there are better examples to use but it seems to have kept my other half quiet. She is very protective of Lelly, I think she sees Lelly as the equivalent of a new kitchen on wheels. After Emsworth, I know who received the most concern anyway!!! :B)

In my defence, the idea was (and is) that Lelly will be the last bike I buy. I'm hoping that being titanium all I will need to do is maintain it unless some numpty runs into it.

Pricing it by component is a good ploy. When asked say the price of bike was £x, but don't mention that the wheels cost £y......

Honestly!! I'm not really into changing my bike unless there's something fundamentally wrong with it. I've now owned a total of 4 road bikes: Bianchi Goldrace (written off by left hook), Giant SCR1 (broke frame), Giant SCR A1 (current commuter) and Lelly. I also have a mountain bike that I've had for about 15 years. Unless there's a major advancement in bike design, I can't see me buying another one for myself (obviously bikes for SWMBO don't count!)

Yes, this is very true. When asked a lot how much one of my many bikes are, I find it very hard to put a figure on it and generally say I cant say as I've built it/them up from scratch. Luckily, I dont have SWMBO issues... but it does make dating a nightmare. As in, "sorry, ive brought another bike/frame/wheels/light/lyrca, I cant take you out this week..".

So last night, was wet, not good for the paint work, but handling was better. Its quite amazing how quick ones mind set can change.

This morning there was a head wind and I thought I was struggling but in fact I was still going quite fast, which was quite like the little ups and downs I do, whereby the speed was maintained quite high. Thats the fixed "inertia" then? I like. Am still buzzing.
Hi Greg

Can I be cheeky and ask whether your bull bars are still going? Are they any good by the way - I know Mat broke the pair on his Plug and came off...

Cheers.
yours if you want 'em, mate, they are just gathering dust.

I swapped 'em because I wanted to put a longer stem/wider bar and a TT lever on*, and someone, ?CRC? was flogging ITM stuff stupidly cheap when I went to buy the levers. Can't comment on their goodness, only had them on the bike a couple of weeks, 250km tops. But let's say I'm not renowned for my upper body strength**
