"Can I change from physics to maths?"

Sadly they said "yes" and I went on to do extremely badly

I shall plead the fifth.

Good idea, otherwise it could end up as a bit of a mouthful.

As to the thread title, many years ago my younger sister told me she greeted a not-seen-for-awhile friend with a beaming smile and a "When's it due?", only to be met with a stony glare. The kind of mistake, she said, you only make once.

I have actually said something similar to a woman I hadn't seen for a while. I didn't quite catch what she was saying as she said something about getting scan. After asking when it was due her stoney gaze could have killed me.
The scan was for a wrist injury.🤒🤒

Well it seemed logical to me at the time. To be fair her belly did look big.

I remember as a child watching Steptoe & Son. 'Albert the dad called Harold's (the son) theatrical friend a 'poof'. On hearing this I said to my parents 'what's a poof'? They just did not know what to say, though both laughed obviously finding my question amusing. My dad replied 'er, time for bed now, you'll find out in your own time'. The following day at school I asked a teacher saying my dad won't tell me. The teacher made me stay back an hour after school, also making me write 'I must not ask rude questions' 100 times on the classroom blackboard.🤷

Just went for a walk. These were outside a house. Do you think they are free for takers?
I don’t have the heart to knock and ask, I may have regretted it.
