Even the BBC don’t care anymore. It’s on a Tuesday night!
I wonder how many people actually bothered to vote?
I am happy with the overall winner, she deserves it, but left the shortlist of six was far too boring. Darts gets recognition FFS with the young personality and 2nd in the main vote. We could easily have had a situation where Luke Littler won both trophies which would be a joke.

Bring back the longer shortlist with some minority sports. So many world class performances go unrecognised.

How about Bryony Page for being the current European World and Olympic champion in trampoline.
Or how about Jasmin Paris’s staggering performance as the first woman to ever complete the Berkeley Marathon.

That’s just two I can think of off the top of my head, and they are both women. Come on BBC

And that’s before we even consider how is it possible Tadej Pogacar didn't make the shortlist? Undermines what limited credibility SPOTY has left.

Did they select someone with an actual personality this time?

When I was growing up for me Spoty was a MUST watch , last night I just googled it just before I posted on here .I could name many winners from 1970 to the 1990s couldn't tell you who won it 2 years ago only know who won it last year as it came up in the Google article .To me it got ruined when the phone vote money making scheme came in . Of the short list the winner deserved it

I agree. I always watched it, it was part of my build up to Christmas.

It was probably ruined back in 1991 when Bob Nudd the world fishing champion won the public vote, but the BBC refused to recognise the win, claiming that Angling Weekly had launched a voting campaign so disqualified him.

I voted for Bob 😁, but it was an organised vote , Credit to the Bob did attend several of the nights as they used to invite all British world champions whatever the sport/pastime pretty certain that doesn't happen now

Hoorah, that's my Bingo card nearly complete!

To be fair they did once award it to Lewis Hamilton, the world's highest profile personality donor.

Sorry. That was for the overseas award.
The winner was Duplantis, who broke the pole vault record lots of times.

If we're talking sport, personality, and overseas, then surely it's got to be Jake Paul for his fantastic performance against a prime condition Mike Tyson?
