Cheers Nigel,my route is mainly country lanes through High Leigh,Pickmere then on to Northwich,Middlewich then college.I tried the canal from Middlewich but soon after you get out of town it just turns to mush....bit like Stretford to Trafford centre of the Bridgewater !
Was toying with the idea of going throughh Knutsford and Congleton but it might be a bit out of my way and lary with the A.50 !

sounds very similar to the way i would go-plenty of alternatives there. Try going through Marbury park, that's a nice road that cars cannot pass through too.
