There is actually a Church at the end of one of the branches of this path, but I don't think that is what they meant.

Puzzling... is the temporary sign indicating that there is temporarily a no through road restriction when you might otherwise have got through? Or perhaps some local event generating traffic that might be looking for parking or a short cut down that road? Why not just No Through Road, Access Only, No Entry except for Access, or a Cul De Sac sign? Probably putting Residents Only would annoy the residents as much as the original one. More questions than answers, obviously. Perhaps the council only had that one left.
