I'm just back from two weeks in Brittany with Mrs Celine. I don't do Strava but she does. We went out for a 25 mile explore round the local lanes and she came back with 3 QOMs. On closer inspection she was the only female that had done any of the segments, and viewing all riders showed she had the slowest time (by a long way) on two of the climbs on which she is now proudly QOM.

So my top tip for any females who want to be QOM on strava is move to France, where it clearly hasn't caught on yet.

There are some segments in the UK where I'm the only woman. My proudest one I held had lots of women on it, but I lost it earlier this year by quite a bit (36 secs to my 43) so I'm unlikely to get it back, I'm still pleased with my second place and out of the CC'ers I'm second out of 5 or so (normally I'm close to last:whistle:)

My brother uses it regularly, I occasionally upload a file to Strava from my Endomondo just to show him I do go out for a ride sometimes. In general he is faster but I think that's because he tries to go fast.
I honestly don't know why I use it..
my son encouraged me so more to do the 'I'm faster than my old man' bit, I think.
I do pick out some segments to 'try' when I'm out..
the rest of the time is a toodle.

The thing I enjoy most about Strava is seeing my mates' rides. Got a London-based friend who binned Strava off, which was a shame because I liked seeing what he was up to. Chasing KOMs can be fun, but it's important to remember that it isn't real racing!

I like looking at the placings...I dragged myself along a draggy slight incline the other day...I got a PR, the QOM about twice as fast as me...one Joanna Rowsell who's local :notworthy: she has a gold postbox around a mile from here :okay:
I have the Yates twins to compare efforts up hills against.......It`s not looking good.:headshake:

I've mostly been using Strava to keep track of my routes and milage. But it's fun to get PRs. I do two kinds of rides, one where I go as fast as I can and one where I stop to admire the scenery, take photos, people watch etc. Even when I go as fast as I can, I still have to allow for other road users and traffic conditions, or when I'm on a cycle path, look out for pedestrians, dogs etc and other cyclists who don't know to keep to the left.

Strava segments and times and all of that stuff, make me giggle. I found out a way of getting a guaranteed KOM though. Create a 170 mile segment, make it as convoluted as possible, include loads of hills, bingo, very little chance of anyone getting it off of you:laugh:.
