I'm a republican. However, given the failure of democratically elected politicians in the UK I also think it is just as well we have had a monarchy. WRT the flag it's too garish. It was ok in the psychedelic 60's, Kings Road and all that.. We need a new design without all those crosses on.

The flag is not Garish IMO but is very distinct. It is also very popular out here in Asia and is used to 'decorate' many items in the shops!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

M&M's seen with red, white and blue packets yesterday, also Opal fruits with a variation on the flag design in different fruitier colours.

It didn't work, we didn't buy any.

NT and I went into a the poundshop (for individual lasagne dishes, which they had), and there was a positive cacophony of red white and blue things, including drinking straws. Presumably, one has to have three straws per drink.

M and S was also fairly heavy on the Union Flag branded stuff.

At work we've been getting through an alarming number of red, white and blue 'French' Fancies.
Although I'm celebrating the Jubilee by buggering off abroad for a bit...
