Newsround. Watched it with my eldest for a while and thought it was a whole load more balanced than the 'adult focussed' equivalent. Not sure how John Craven had his ownership rights bought out though.

I think TGL still stands up because all 4 leads are hugely charismatic. The scripts and plots didn't do too much work - it was very character-driven, and it was perfectly cast. IMO!

The TV series with Adam West, wonderfully camp and quite humorous when you watched again as an adult. It was much better than the later films which took a comic book cartoon and tried to make it serious. For God's sake, a middle aged man hanging round with a teenage boy, both dressed in tight fitting Spandex? The social services and the old Bill would be crawling all over it.

That was peak television in many ways - great '60s soundtrack, lots of lovely classic cars and the lovely Gina in a miniskirt
