Couldn't condone you liberating it, but a few photos would be nice. I'm trying to visualise the mechanics of getting from the post to the train. I'm guessing a scoop on the train, and the sacks hanging off a horizontal pole or something like a strong curtain track.

Make of this what you will, there is a gibbit with a dangly thing on on a hook on the post and the train has a net catchy thing not unlike the modern Baseball mitt.

Train then simply scoops up dangly thing with the net catchy thing.

I've been turned down for all the manual writing jobs I've gone for, am I'm starting to recognise a pattern?

I'll have to see if I can get down there this week, it's not far from here. At least the Thomas festival has finished, so it's back to being free entry.

Yes, as I remember it's a scoop on the train, with a net, and the sack hanging from a sort of gibbet. And inside, all the little pigeon holes they sorted the mail into, on the move - no mean feat when you think how much a fast moving train rocks about...

Anything else you want a photo of while I'm there? Mallard? The cut in half Ellerman Lines? Whatever bits of the Flying Scotsman are currently strewn across the Workshop floor?

I'm sorry for calling you sad. I suspect I was actually visualising William Shatner's acting ability in delivering such a line, rather than the emotion behind it...

A baby elephant wandered into the house at about 1 am this morning. I felt it thudding down the stairs, and then it nudged the furniture in the bedroom. Then it decided to shake the bed. How did the cat not notice an elephant in the room?
