Afternoons!
Sounds like the chooks are fully over the whole battery cage ordeal. Now you just need to start feeding them sage and onion!
No. You don't. That's a horrid suggestion.

Funnily enough...

I have sage, chives, oregano, parsley, rosemary, thyme.. all growing in the garden. All are ignored by The Laydeez. I wonder if somehow *they know....*

They just might... Mind you, I've had mountain lamb that seemed to have been eating rosemary its whole life. Adorable little animals, lambs. And so very tasty too...

Speaking of tasty...

Poor Francis. He has turned into a man-eater. Specifically he's a woman eater. A Me-eater.

Poor cat. I've just had him to the vet on an emergency visit. Francis has been fine, but noticed this afternoon, he was walking with his tail *down* and he would not let anyone near his tail to investigate. Looked like a broken tail. I rang the vet, described Francis's symptoms. Vet agreed either a possible broken tail or an abscess.

So I bundled one upset and sore cat into a carrier & took him off to the vet. Francis cried on the trip there, poor boy. The vet was Mr Kennedy, who is a very good, caring vet. In the exam room, I held the end of Francis with the teeth, Mr Kennedy examined to sore end.

To be fair to Francis, and to Mr Kennedy - Mr K was trying to be as gentle as he could be but unfortunately Francis did not appreciate this *at all* Francis gave due warning: several times, long and loud. Hissing, spitting, growling, it all came long & loud. Alas, when he'd had enough, it was my hand he chewed down on. And boy, can Francis chew down hard. So I have several deep bite marks in my right hand. These have been washed thoroughly and had much alcohol on and in them, so I'm hoping there's nothing nasty going to fester. My hand is a tad swollen though. I can't be mad at him, as he only bit because he was in pain and frightened at being prodded about on the sore bit. It is one nasty-looking abscess on his tail. If it were me, I think I'd have done the same.

Francis now has a tail with a large bald patch on it and has had an injection of long-lasting antibiotic and painkiller.

He's looking a bit perkier already.

Must admit, I wondered quite where this was going!
*drags mind out of gutter*
You might need some antibiotics yourself there. I hope your pussy Francis gets better soon. Chez Waffles sounds a dangerous place to be at the moment. Unless you're a butterfly...

I saw a c*r with the licence plate A9 TEA the other day. 84 TEA might be better .

I was not tempted tho' as I have my own personal licence plate.:blush::ohmy:
oops That sounds posh, not really, I just noticed when I went to see it that the c*r had my initials in the licence plate, not once, but twice.

iced tea anyone?

*drips sweat on tearoom floor after watering plants in garden, giving the hens a free-range time, feeding them sweetcorn and wrestling with Cathode to get a shrew from her beak*

*accepts chilled drink with alacritea*
It's a bit warmish out there. I was going for a long ride, but maybe a short one would be better...

I thought I could start in here. Waiting for the Fantasy League results, therefore in need of calmizing Tea. Later I might go into B**r.

I walked into town this lunchtime, and noticed two very nice unlocked mountain bikes outside a pub. When I returned about two hours later, the bikes were still there.

Where we had lunch was very warm, so I asked one of the waitresses if the Chef was wearing his swimsuit, no she said he was wearing his Speedos, I had to try very hard not to ask her to ask the chef to come out of the kitchen. What's that phrase - if you cannot stand the heat of the kitchen .......?:biggrin::angry:

Mention has made been of meet up Tea? thread a.

Excellent idea. Perhaps in the Autumn when people have finished their jolidays etc. From deepest darkest Worcestershire, we have a train service to Paddington. From whence, if I plan ahead, I could use a tuube train to get somewhere else. I have no idea how far deep in darkest Norfolk does Waffleycat live.
