That's OK. I have loads of leftover cake from the funeral I went to yesterday. At least some good comes out of these occasions.

oh, sorry to hear that. Still, as you say, excess cake...

It's a peril of a cyclist's funeral though, the food. The guests at Tom's funeral cleared the tables like a swarm of locusts....;)

I'll put the kettle on. I've done no work today, just felt lethargic as soon as I sat down at the laptop, so I decided to be useful instead and went out to buy a replacement battery charger (mine packed up yesterday) and the OS map for Beverley/Mappleton. I'm all packed for Friday, and I've made a batch of tiffin - just need to work out if I can fit it in my panniers with the tent, sleeping bag and stuff.

I hope the weather changes, currently it appears to be blowing an easterly gale. That's what I want on Monday, coming back. I want a westerly on Friday, like I had last weekend.

Yeah, but it would be rude not to eat it all...

And we need the energy for Saturday.

I've just thought. Whatever else, I want a lot of cheesy pineapple on sticks at my funeral.

How long before can we start carb loading?:tongue: Not that we're actually riding that far...

Well, I had spag bol last night. I'll probably have spag something else tonight. And tomorrow... I like spag!

(Mainly it's because I opened a tin of toms for last night, and a tin lasts me three meals, so I need to finish it before the weekend. Tonight I think I'll bung some bacon, olives and pepper in with them.)

BTW, I'm going for Bronze too, now I've seen what it means! Although the silver is an average of 20km/h, which is 12.42 mph - I've kept that up over 33 flat miles (with a break in the middle to knit and drink tea), but I think 37 hilly ones will be too much for that pace!

I'm not planning to bring cooking gear, no room in panniers - I guess we can stock up on something continental for breakfast on Sunday? I wonder if anyone will have the wherewithall to boil a kettle though...

It's only not noticeable to the terminally myopic. It's so bright red I could use it as a rear light on my bike. But that would mean I'd have to be facing backwards and not able to see where I was cycling to... But I'd have a wonderfully illuminated view of where I'd come from..

Tea anyone? Arch - I picked up the stove last night so we won't have to be tealess on Sunday morning. Just remind me to pack some milk.

Oh yes, please. Celebratory tea. I've just had the results in of my first proper breast screening, complete with the x-rays. Result: 'No abnormalities found' This is good as I have medical proof there is at least one part of me that is not abnormal! Hurrah!
