Had a really good second day in York.
I had looked after my Saturday wrist band and the door keepers let me in with a Sunday band without paying which was nice. Had a sausage and egg butty for breakfast there, later followed up with another wonderful burger (I think they make the bread rolls freash in the van as there was a woman kneeding dough) and then a raspberry crepe.
I spend a little money in the saddle bag sale and bought a 'ding ding' bell, a 'trrrring trrrrrring' bell and a comedy high pitched 'hooga' hooter, all for £1. I nearly bought a Sturmey Archer 7 speed hub gear but I checked with Spandex and he advised me not to as it came without shifter cable links and the little cable inside would be hard to source if it broke. Someone else bought it though having not overheard what Spandex was telling me.
I also had a look around a big yellow artic lorry that was parked and who should I see sitting inside? Arch!
It was a demonstration of the huge improvements in mirrors and blind spot vision in a modern truck but also showing just how difficult it still is for a truck driver to see cyclists who position badly when the truck is turning.
It has been baking hot, really, really, silly hot and I am glad to be back in the shade now.
Granville, my slightly comedy Hungarian folder, is proving to be quite a good little bike. Smooth running, good gear selection and ratios, easy to ride and to store. The fold is a pain but I have found that it stores just as well with the pedals folded and the QR bars turned sideways.
Granville may get a clean and respray to satin black one day.
Time for a tea now.
