Well done Waffles indeed!

The last couple of evenings, I haven't really had any appetite. Alas, it hasn't stopped me eating quanities of spaghetti... ;)

And tomorrow I have to carb load for the sportive on Saturday...

Thank you dear friends

No chance of me disappearing. Still a lot of flab to lose and not being able to cycle (knees still) means the excess is not disappearing as fast as I want it to go.Still, the trend is downwards and I'm grateful for that.

Had sweet & sour pork with noodles tonight.

Very lean pork, leek, carrot, kohl rabi, pineapple, soy, sweet & sour sauce, noodles. Low-fat & delicious NOM!

That sounds very good. Slightly alarmingly healthy, but you can't have everything.
Right, I'll not be around this weekend - off to South Wales to visit rellies. If you're lucky I'll bring some laverbread back.
If you're even luckier I won't ;)

Nah, naive, I think...

Anyway, it's 3 years away. It's currently in the same <meh, later> file in my brain as pensions.

Whereas heading off to Canada, all alone? That's brave. Somehow, I find that a bigger undertaking than doing the same thing in Europe - despite the fact that in Europe I'd be ignorant in most languages.

Tea?

People keep telling me how amazing I am to be doing it alone but to be honest it's a relief to be able to go at my own speed and stop when I want. And I've met so many great people I can't remember feeling lonely in the last 8 weeks which is strange as I felt lonely after a few days when I went touring on my own last summer.

I'll definitely be signing up for tea duties on the LEL if you are doing it. Must make sure you get a good cuppa to keep you going.

*wakes up with a bump*

A ride on Saturday you say? Point me to it, would you? Need some incentive to get out.

*Remembers manners*

Er, Tea, anyone?

It's the Big G sportive, out of Beverley. I think it's sold out but Admin had his place up for sale yesterday as he can't make it now. You could give him a shout...

Discussed (over many pages) here:

https://www.cyclechat.net/

Of course you could do the ride anyway, and just not get the feedstation, apres ride pie, or t-shirt. Hulver is giving me a lift over and we're planning to get an 8.30ish start.

Tea? yes please! I've been shovelling and barrowing poo all afternoon. Yes, I've had a shower...

Going to have spag bol tonight, proper carbs. That's on top of noodles, a samosa, a cheese sandwich, and half a danish iced whirl at lunchtime. I better be careful I don't carb load to the point of not being able to move....

I wonder if you (by which I mean one) become more gregarious when abroad? Hence never being lonely on this trip. Perhaps it's so different, one becomes different oneself.

As for the LEL - any chance of riding along side with a thermos? ;)

This evening's culinary delight at Chez Wafflycat is a salad made with greens picked from the garden and 'greenhouse' tomatoes, eggs from The Laydeez and new potatoes (Anya) just dug up and are now in a pan to boil. Should be tasty!

Mmmm, I'll have Waffle's salad to start, and Bigg's liver fo a main....

Well, I'm loaded with carbs. Just need to get my stuff together, get a good night's sleep and get up tomorrow at 6.30 to be ready for my lift over to Beverley with the trike...

Is it the Grimpeur tomorrow? Hope it's as good as last year. I'm sure you'll get up Nunburnholme in one go. You seem in great form at the moment.

Oh, thank you! I'm a bit nervous, to be honest - I'm doing the 100k route this year, on the trike.

I did Nunburnholme two weeks ago, twice (up, then down the Burnby road, then round and up again), on the trike, to see if I could. And I could, although I was down to my very bottom gear (I don't use it often, because the chain rubs on the mudguard and makes a terrible rattling noise). But I did it after only 25 miles or so over from York - tomorrow it'll be after 40 or more miles of hils already climbed.

Still, on the trike, I won't have to get off and walk. I may cycle up at walking pace though....

WCMnr has gorn orf for the weekend. It's a rufty-tufty blokes thing he's gorn orf to. He has, however, raided the garden for salads and pointed all the food he's taken with him, WeightWatchers-stylee, as he has 5kg to lose and he *wants* to shift it swiftly yet healthily. I'm impressed.
